Dancer Tara Lorenzen performs excerpted solos from the larger work Virgo Genitrix (2003), set to 14th century composer Guillaume de Machaut's opus Le Lai de la Fontienne, inspired by the curious phenomena of desert asceticism, mortification of the flesh, holy fasting, sexual abstinence, daemonology, as well as the concepts of the transformation of the harlot to saint, and the noble savage as linked to prelapsarian innocence from a feminine perspective.
