Join us at Bethany Arts Community for an open rehearsal showing of both solo and group material for Daphnis & Chloë, the newest evening-length work in Christopher Williams’s ‘Queering' the Canon: Reimagining the Ballet Russes series, performed by a cast of acclaimed up-and-coming dancers new to Christopher Williams Dances. Inspired by ancient Greek romancer Longus’s 2nd century novel Daphnis & Chloé: Story of a Lesbian Romance (on which it is based), Daphnis & Chloë features cast of transgender, non-binary, and female-identifying dancers in order to foreground oft absent or marginalized aspects of transgender/queer feminine agency and desire in classical dance. The showing will also include a question and answer session as well as an open discussion between the dancers, the assembled audience, and Williams.
