Carol Binion has been a colleague and friend since she and Christopher worked together as puppeteers in Basil Twist’s company in 2000. She has been Christopher’s costume design collaborator and builder for his works including The Portuguese Suite in 2006, Tír na nÓg, Land of the Young in 2007, and Mumbo-jumbo in 2011. Carol began her costume career as a builder of ladies’ gowns and millinery for such Broadway shows as Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Sunset Boulevard, Rent, and The King and I, and Disney on Ice shows including Toy Story and Finding Nemo. Then Carol transitioned to designing costumes and puppets for Sesame Street and Elmo’s World, for which she received 4 Daytime Emmy Awards. Upon moving to Los Angeles in 2002 she became the designer and shop manager for Crank Yankers, and worked on a video for Baby Einstein. As a puppeteer, Carol Binion has performed on television shows: Book of Pooh, Crank Yankers, It’s a Big Big World, multiple TV commercials for SlimJim, and in many theatrical works in the New York area. She is also a classically trained singer and performs regularly with Jouissance and the Los Angeles Chorale.
